  1. Wow – Cool! Is it paper or what is it that is embedded in the wax?

  2. Amy,

    Hello! :]

This is on birch board, its about 8″x8″ and its encaustic paint, oil, and paper. Are you an encaustic painter too?

  3. Thanks! It almost looks like a piece of thin metal because it raises up like that. I also think the ones that show the spiral binding from the sketch book (presumably) look really cool like that.

I do paint with encaustic – I feel like I’m just starting out, so I like to see what other techniques are out there and see the interesting things people are doing with the wax. I love love love it!

My website isn’t great right now (pretty much not finished yet), but I do have a little art on there http://www.amyfinder.com and on my blog http://www.prism-creative.com (which will move to the other site soon). I also put other random creative projects on the blog.

Thanks again for posting inspiring stuff!

  4. Just found your blog and am too late for the 2 encaustic a day challenge for 2 weeks but hope you repeat it in the fall! It sounds like a great challenge and one that I need to get out there in my garage studio and take up my heat gun again.

  5. Barb,

Thank you for your e-mail! :o ) I highly recommend doing something like this, it really helps get your “rear-in-gear” and produce work…

Hope you get that heat gun out soon… I’d love to see your work.

  6. So are you going to host another encaustic a day challenge? Sounds great. As an artist with a full time “other” job I need deadlines and structure to keep myself on track. I work in mixed media and want to expand my encaustic incorporation.
I like your variation in themes and colors. What a great body of work!

  7. Taska,

Thank you for your comments! :o )

I am planning more challenges and am currently working on a new social networking site that we can all join… There will be monthly challenges, events, sharing of artwork… I’m very excited and will let everyone know where the new site is as soon as I am finished with it… I’m expecting to have it up during the first part of the new year.

    stay tuned!
